Darko The Super
Darko The Super is the doofus in charge over at U Don’t Deserve This Beautiful Art, a record label specializing in the unexpected. Darko has spent his illustrious career as a hip hop superhero. Hailing from the city of brotherly love, he formed such duos as The Hell Hole Store with ialive, and Desperate Band Appreciation Society with Harvey Cliff MC. Through the years he’s worked with some of independent music’s brightest stars and even is known to hang out at fashion week in his outfits from Big & Tall. With an increasingly rising 50 some odd albums under his belt, he is truly a bonafide prolific rap weirdo. Heralded as Philly’s avant-garde king, Darko The Super is an unstoppable force making other artists of today look plain lazy.
Harvey Cliff MC is an artist’s artist. A brilliant man with ideas oozing out of his ears. The Creative Art Director of U Don’t Deserve This Beautiful Art and driving force behind Desperate Band Appreciation Society. One half of the legendary rap duo Pretty Goslings. Harvey’s journey began in Kentucky, where the Beastie Boy wanna-be recorded his very first album to cassette as a young teenager. He’d later host his own radio shows and eventually move to Brooklyn where the pizza’s delicious and the rap beats are abundant. Working at Fat Beats, he’d come across all the heavy hitters and learned a thing or two about the biz. Taking inspiration for his alias from 1950’s “Harvey”, a film where a whimsical middle-aged man has an invisible six foot-tall rabbit for a best friend. Just like in the movie, you may think Harvey’s insane but in reality he’s more wise than you could ever imagine.
Big Baby Gandhi was blessed with a perfect rap voice. He could rap anything and make it sound good. Even songs about being an old Chinese man with glasses for instance. The Queens native found his niche working with pioneering rap group Das Racist. Releasing music as inventive and innovative as can be. In 2013, he devastated art rap fans by announcing his retirement to join the pharmaceutical world. Big Baby Gandhi now lives in the Bay Area, and we’re happy to say he’s back making his incomparable music we’ve come to enjoy throughout the years.
Serengeti aka Kenny Dennis, leader of the imaginary rap group The Grimm Teachaz, is the incomparable genius mind behind some of indie rap’s greatest masterpieces. A brilliant songwriter and one of music’s best story tellers. Serengeti has created beloved characters and a cinematic universe through his work. Even releasing albums as the fictional characters in his stories. There is no one in music going to the lengths that Serengeti goes to. He creates worlds to escape to through his concepts and ideas. A mastermind and champion of Chicago. No one is as unique as the Geti King.
Cody Cody Jones, the self proclaimed Joe Dirt of indie rap. A veteran in the DIY scene, slanging cd’s, tapes, records, zines, and even skateboards. Cody is a true blue collar MC and one of the hardest working artists around. He runs the company Internet Skateboards right out of his home in Pittsburgh, PA. He’s a regular Jackie Moon. The sound man and the street team. He’ll bring the speakers and take donations at the door. Cody has a podcast and a blog called The Throwaway Days, where he does his darnedest to promote independent music. Nothing can stop the Code man, especially since he’s making his own beats too.
Torito, a bull-masked Philadelphia rapper in the vein of MF DOOM and Aesop Rock, deals in multisyllabic wit, absurdist imagery, personal musing, and societal reflection. His beats are impeccably sourced (or, in the case of "Fabric Scraps", self-produced) and his rhymes are obsessively constructed. He's opened for Devin The Dude, R.A. The Rugged Man, Meyhem Lauren, Sean Price, Homeboy Sandman, B. Dolan, Sage Francis, and more.
Starchildluke is a hip hop/electronic producer from the UK. Having started his musical journey back in 2010, he has worked with a number of artists around the world and released over 25 albums. His main influences including J Dilla, Madlib, and Black Milk and his love and passion for the art form never diminishes.
From Philly, for the people. A proponent of 90's Hip Hop, ialive pushes the boundaries by blending psychedelic beats with colorful beauty and grooving basslines. He's been making music since 2004 both producing for himself among other artists. Representing Cold Rhymes Records, Already Dead Tapes, and is 1/2 of The Hell Hole Store with Darko The Super, ialive has four cats and his favorite band is the Kinks. He can be found talking about both around the country so be sure to catch him on tour.
